One of our long time summer favourites, we first made Shiso Chip in August 2016! We make this flavour by steeping locally grown shiso leaves from Jambican Gardens and churning it into a mint chip style ice cream. The flavour of shiso is wholly unique, but can be described as a floral blend of mild basil and mint. Also called "perilla", it's an herb most notably used in Japanese cuisine, but also in Korean and Vietnamese cooking too. It's one of the few distinctively East Asian ingredients grown locally in Ottawa!
